PAPAKURA CAMP FOR GAMES
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA) —The offer of I’apakura .Military Camp for Ihe accommodation of athletes and officials visiting Auckland for the 1950 British Empire Ganics was made by lhe Minister of Defence in a letter received by the organising committee for the Games. The offer was made in reply to a request to the Minister. The Minister indicated that the Army Department would make the camp available and would also arrange for the provision of rations on the scale specified by the committee. Stores, bedding and dining facilities would also be provided, and assistance would be given with the stores staff. The organising committee would be required to provide cooks, orderlies, waiters and cleaning staff. Charges would be made for rations, hire of buildings and equipment and for lhe cost of electric power and gas.
