Police Check Up On Cyclists Riding In Esplanade Reserve
As a result of complaints, the police had checked up on cyclists ridinj along the footwalk in Wanganui Easl Esplanade, said Sergeant A. Carlyon who prosecuted in the Magistrate’: Court, Wanganui, yesterday. Five cyclists, each charged will riding in the James McGregor Memorial Park, as the Esplanade i: known, were fined ss. costs 10s. b} Mr. J. H. Salmon. S.M. Defendants were Barry Calver Harold Gillespie. Conn'e Carlson, Vic tor Hancock and Teter Packer.
The offences were committeed or Sunday, November 7. said Sergean Carlyon. The police had receive! complaints about persons cycling ii the reserve and Constable McAlpim (Wanganui East) went there betweci 3.10 and 3.30 p.m. In reply to the magistrate, Con stable McAlpine said that there wa a turnstile at each end of the reserve At the northern end a notice was dis played prohibiting cycling.
