Visiting Professional Tennis Players In Exhibition Matches
AUCKLAND. Last Night (PA,.— The second series of exhibition tennis matches were played by the visiting professional players at the Stanley Street courts yesterday afternoon. The first singles match between R. L. Riggs and D. R. Pails was won by the former in the third set. Riggs, in comparison with his previous Auckland: appearance, played in an enthusaistic manner and his game was marked by some very shrewd play and clever placements. Pails worried Riggs with his service, but he had periods of inconsistency. The severeness of Kramer’s smashing was exhibited in his match against the Ecuadorian, F. Segura. Segura scored several winners with his twohanded forehand drive, but he suffered defeat in straight sets. In the doubles match Kramer and Segura teamed well to defeat Pails and Riggs in four sets. Results were:— Riggs beat Pails 6-4, 2-6, 6-3; Kramer beat Segura, 6-4, 6-2; Kramer and Segura beat Riggs and Pails, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.
