Liner Mataroa Arrives With Many New Settlers
WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).— With 290 passengers, including 190 new settiers for New Zealand ,the Shaw Savill liner Mataroa arrived after a 37 days’ voyage from London. She anchored in the stream at midnight on Saturday, berthing at 10 a.m. today. The passengers said the voyage had been uneventful and attended by calm weather for the greater part of the way. Of her passengers, 127 were assisted immigrants, 63 fare-paying passengers who had been allotted berths on employment grounds. Of the 100 ether passengers a number intend io settle here permanently. The party of 127 included nursing and domestic staff for hospitals, coalminers, builders, printers, factory workers and engineers.
