Further Increase In Newsprint Prices
(N.Z.P. A.—Copyright.) Reed. 7.5 p.m. New York, June 27. The “New York Journal of Commerce” says another increase in the price of Canadian newsprint is probable before September. It quotes manufacturers in Quebec as stating that wood, freight, coal, labour and other costs had already risen about nine dollars on each ton of newsprint since the last price rise at the beginning of this year- At that time newsprint was increased six dollars a ton. It is believed if costs continue to rise on coal and other items, as now seems » un. avoidable, anther six dollars will be added to the price. The current price is 96 dollars a ton.
