No Flight for Footballers.
Due to the prohibitive cost of air transport, the Wanganui Rugby Union's senior representative team will travel by rail and ferry steamer, instead of flying from Palmerston North to Christchurch, when it emnarks on the tour of the South Island in August. This was decided by tile union management committee’ last night. The secretary (Mr. C. S. Swan) advised that under the origi nal arrangement only 14 members of the party could be accommodated on the first plane, and that it would be necessary to charter a special aircraft to carry thq remaining 16. This would entail an extra expense of more than £lO9. and it was agreed, under the circumstances, to cancel arrangements lor travelling by air.
