Flight Lieutenant L. M. Bailey, formerly of Hawera, arrived at Auckland by the South African star on Saturday on two months’ .eave from, the Royal Air Force, which he joined m 1942. After his leave he will return to Great Britain, where he will be attached to 'an experimental Hying station.
Bro. A. V. Thompson, Grand Sire of the Grand Lodge of Australasian Oddfellows, who is visiting Wanganui, is a member of the Federal Parliament and represents the district of Hindmarsh, South Australia. Accompanied by his wife, Bro. Thompson is paying a brief visit to New Zealand.
Mr. William Harlow, of Wellington, has been appointed a stipendiary magistrate. Mr. Harlow was born m Dunedin and educated at Kaikorai public school and Otago Boys' High School. He started a legal career with the firm of McGregor and Ramsay, Dunedin, and later practised for many years in the Otago Central district. Since his discharge from the air force at the end of the war he has been attached to the Crown Law Office.
Mr. Vai Drewry arrived in Wanganui yesterday morning lor the purpose of making arrangements for two concerts to be given in this City by Moura Lympany. The reason for this tour including two concerts in Wanganui is that it was specially requested by Mr. Colin Horsley prior to Mr Drewry leaving London. Mr. Drewry was in Wanganui a year ago as the manager for Mr. Colin Horsley.
