N. Plymouth Cashier Charged With Theft Of £17.691 From Council

(P.A.) New Plymouth. May 26 Charged with theft from the New Plymouth Borough Council of approximately £17,6J1 6s 5d in about five months, a council cashier, Bruce Norman Guilford, aged 22, single, appeared in the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court this morning. On the application of the police, a remand was granted by Messrs. T. S. D. Hayton end G. M. Fraser. J.P.’s. to June 2.

Asking for the remand. Senior-De-tective E. C. Jarrold said that Guilford had been arrested only last nigh' and that there were still a considerable number of inquiries to be made

Bail was fixed at £5OO and one surety of £5OO. or two of £250 with the added condition that Guilford report to the police daily.
