Night Check On Cycles Carried Out By Police And Traffic Inspectors

As a i-esult of a check made by police and Wanganui City Council traffic inspectors, several cyclists were charged in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday for not having lights. In the following cases a fine of 10s, costs 10s, was imposed by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M.:—

Andrew Hunter, Frank McCarten, Claude Tasker, Herbert Yates, Alex Byres, David Derek Gillespie Wan (costs 12s), John Joseph Hall, Charles Harris Joblin (costs 12s), Ned Mosen and George Arnold Dinngotn. Commenting that he was glad the City Council was prosecuting in these cases because the offence was too prevalent, the Magistrate imposed a fine of £l, costs 10s, on Harold Barnes, charged with travelling on the right of more than one cycle proceeding the same direction.

Russel McLeod, charge/ with not having a red reflector on the rear of his cycle, was fined 10s, costs 10s.
