MEN’S HOCKEY
FIRST MATCH OF THE SEASON Hockey for the 1948 season began on Saturday, when Castlecliff met Rangers, a new team, on the Gonville Domain in an unofficial match. Play was of a fair standard considering the circumstances, and both teams gave a willing and energetic display of the code. Best players were N. Mclntyre and I. Gurney (Rangers) and D. Cate, E. Robinson and O. Holly (Castlecliff). For Castlecliff the scorers were R. Anthony, S Robinson and T. Robinson, while for Rangers R. Mclntyre and I. Gurney scored a goal each. Result: Castlecliff ... 3 Rangers 2 Mr M. H. Springer was the umpire.
