U.S. CARRIER MIDWAY FOR RECONSTRUCTION
(Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.) Recd. 7.5 p.m. London, Jan. 26 The United States Navy is to withdraw the aircraft-carrier Midway, most powerful nava’ vessel at present in the Mediterranean, but will replace it immediately by another ’carrier. Extensive reconstruction is to be carried out on the Midway, including the strengthening of the flight deck in order to accommodate ceavier aircraft.
