OVERTIME REFUSED ON LYTTELTON WATERFRONT
(P.A.) Christchurch. Jan. 26. Waterside workers refused to accept overtime on two ships discharging at Lyttelton today, Glenpark and Inchwells, and stopped work at 5 p.m. The Port Committee will meet tomorrow morning to discuss the matter. Overtime has not been worked at Lyttelton on discharging ships, except where they were finishing discharge, since November 26, because of a shortage of railway trucks. Congestion of shipping has ceased and the Railway Department today found that trucks could be spared for overtime, which was accordingly ord ered on Glenpark and Inchwells.
