New Zealand Well Off For Roads
COUNTY CHAIRMAN’S COMPARISON.
Speaking at a complimentary social event at Maxwell on Saturday, tendered to the retiring chairman of the Waitctara County Council (Mr. W. Morrison), Mr. K. W. Dalrymple, of Bulls, chairman of the Rangitikei County Council, said that for th’) length of time it had been populated a little more than 100 years, New Zealand was well off for roads. “Having visited other countries i can perhaps speak with some knowledge of the position,” said Mr. Dalrymple. “Take Australia as a case in point. Australia has many miles of roads, some of them good, but she has miles upon miles of roads that really are not roads at all. In this country we have a good reading sys tern, considering the short length of time this country has been populated.”
