Riggs Beats Kramer In Professional Tennis
Recd. 5 p.m. New York, Dec. 27 Before a crowd of 15,000 at Madison Square Garden last night, Riggs beat Kramer in a tennis professional match, 6-2, 10-8, 4-6, 6-4. Riggs' penetrating strokes artd anticipation of his aggressive opponent’s designs was possibly the decisive factor in a hardfought match. Riggs bore out his claim to be the man who could "figure out” Kramer’s game and, by superior consistency, prevented Kramer from establishing himself as the greatest player of both the amateur and professional ranks. In a -, c or }£‘ set m atch, Pails beat Segura, 15-13. Kramer and Pails beat Riggs and Segura, 6-2, 6-4. Linesmen wore dinner jackets and P la X ers were all announced as Mister, but in contrast with this setting, a clown performed during the interval after the third set of the Riggs v. Kramer match.
