Turkish Students Accuse Rector Of Being A Communist
Recd. 7.30 p.m. Ankara, Dec. 27. Carrying anti-Communist slogans. 5000 Turkish students brushed aside police who fired over their heads, cut the hoses of firemen who drenched them, and invaded Ankara University. They accused the rector, Shefket Aziz Kansu, of being a Communist, and forced him to sign his resignation. The students then forced him out of his office and sent him home. Troops and police before the university demonstration blocked the streets to prevent the students going to the Soviet Embassy.
