Week-End Accidents In City And District
Several accidents occurred irt Wanganui and district over the week-end but none fatally. When the motor-cycle they were riding from Marton to Palmerston North yesterday morning skidded in loose metal on the Bulls road, two brothers, Wallie Gibson and William Gibson, of Palmerston North, received injuries which necessitated their removal to the Wanganui Hospital by ambulance. Wally Gibson suffered a fracture of the right leg and a suspected dislocation of the left elbow and other injuries. His condition was reported satisfactory last night. Face abrasions were received by William Gibson. Dr. M. L. Benson, Marton, gave medical attention at the scene of the accident. Injuries to his head and thigh were suffered by Mr. M. O’Connor on Saturday night at Te Tui, Wanganui River, when a large log rolled on top of him while he was out mustering. He was conveyed to the Wanganui Hospital by ambulance. The ambulance was also called to Cook’s Gardens on Saturday when a competitor in a cycling race had to be taken to hospital after a crash during the contest.
