MANSLAUGHTER CHARGE

(P.A.) Christchurch, Dec. 28 A charge of manslaughter was preferred against John Richard Neylon, aged 34, at a special sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at the Christchurch Central Police Station on Saturday. The charge against Neylon was that on or about December 25, 1947, at Christchurch, he unlawfully killed Richad William Webster, thereby committing manslaughter. Senior-Detective F. J. Brady, who appeared for the police, asked for a remand until next Friday morning. This was granted by the magistrate, Mr. H. P. Lawry. On his own application, Neylon was allowed bail at £2OO in his own recognissance and two sureties of £2OO each. Accused was ordered to report twice daily to the police.
