BUOYANT PRICES FOR WOOL MAINTAINED AT AUCKLAND SALE

(P.A.) Auckland, Oct. 2. An official report of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Assocition states: ‘‘The first Auckland wool sale of the season was held today, when 6658 bales of new season's fleece and crutchings and oddments, and 8173 bales of new season's fleece and crutchings and oddments, and 8173 bales of greasy wool on account of the N.Z. Wool Disposal Commission were offered.

"Of total clearance 99 per cent, was taken by commercial buyers, the balance being taken by the Wool Disposal Commission. "The offering of new season's wool consisted mainly of crutchings, but with a proportion of early shorn hogget and wether wool, which sold particularly well. Competition for crutchings was very keen, except for inferior and seedy lines, which were sought after, but on a much lower price level. Hogget and wether wools, offered were bright and light in condition, and met with spirited competition, and prices showed an appreciable increase on last season’s rates. “It was again particularly evident that well skirted and even lines of fleece will be in demand during this season. "Owing to there being insufficient, grades of fleece wool offered, it is not possible to give quotations that would give a fair indication of the market. Finer types of crutchings were not in demand, and realised comparatively much lower prices. “Following is the official range of prices:— CRUTCHINGS. Crossbred. d. d. Good to super 19 to 22 Average 15 to 18 Inferior and seedy 7 to 134
