Miro Lodge at Raetihi Celebrates Silver Jubilee

(0.C.) Raetihi, Oct. 2 Celebrations to mark the silver jubilee of Miro Lodge No. 79. U.A.0.D., Raetihi, were held recently. Arch Druid. Bro. A. J. Whitehead presided over 53 officers and members. Among the visitors were Bros. H. A. Dunderdale (G.V.P.). F. Ramsbottom (J.P.G.P.), and A. J. Menzies, and F. Jackson, two district presidents. Opportunity was taken to make a presentation of a medal to Bro. E. C. Davis (P.D.P.) in acknowledgment of his many years’ service as lodge treasurer.

Bro. A. E. Urwin was also given a medal in recognition of his work for theUodge in Raetihi. In making the •presentation, Bro. H. H. Tonkin ((J.G.P.) and (P.D.P.) said the medal [given Bro. Urwin was presented to • him by the Grand President of the International Grand Lodge in England when he represented New Zealand at that gathering. The gift of a Past Arch Collar was given to Bro. Whitehead by Bro. Tonkin. iLettersg congratulating the lodge on I its silver jubilee were read from the Grand President and other high officials. At a dinner which followed, tribute was paid to the founders of the Lodge Miro in Raetihi, and of the good work accomplished in the past 25 years. Guests at the dinner included: Bros. A J. Relph (Wanganui), W. Gardiner (Taihape), A.. J. Menzies (Taihape), H. Goddard (Taumarunui), K. Stephens (Auckland). W. J. Millan (Patea), 11. Graham (Masterion), and 11. H. Tonkin (Dargaville). During the dinner a lengthy toast list was honoured.
