NZ WOMEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP YESTERDAY’S RESULTS
(P-A.) Hamilton, Oct. 2. In view of steady rain during the last few days the St. Andrew's links were in wonderful order today for the opening of the New Zealand women’s golf championships. Great interest this morning, when the interisland match was decided, centred in the game between Miss G. Horwell (Timaru), last year's champion, and Mrs. G. W. Hollis (Titirangi), the runner-up last year. Mrs. Hollis won three and two. The inter-teams match was won by North, who were successful in four matches, South winning two and two being squared. Results: Mrs G. W. Hollis (Titlrangi) beat Miss J. Horwell (Timaru) 3 and 2; Miss E. Wilkinson (Grange) and Mis s Z. Hudson (Christchurch*, al] square; Miss R. Hodges (Middlemore) beat Miss C. Smith (Invercargill) 2 up; Mrs P. R. Glanville (Hamilton* beat Mrs H. J. Topliss (Nelso r ‘* and Mrs J. E. Salisbury (Invercargill) 1 up; Miss M Stevens (North Shore) all square; Miss J. Duncan (Wanganui) beat Miss 11. Buchanan (Christchurch) 3 and 1: Mrs H. McDonald (Hamilton) lost to Mrs W. Toomcv (Christchurch) 1 down: Mrs J. Cliff (Manawatu) lost to Miss E. Nutt (Christchurch) 3 and 1.
The foursome s were won bv Mrs G. W. Hollis (Titirangi) and Miss H. Buchanan (Christchurch), 82 (holders). Miss Z. Hudson (Christchurch* and Miss C. Smith (Invercargill) returned a card of 83, as also did Miss E. Wilkinson (Grange) and M r s Judd (Titirangi). In the handicap foursomes Mrs Yen di‘U an<l Mrs Monteith (Hamilton* won with 87. 14 -73, with Miss J. Duncan and Mrs Waddell (Wanganui' 85. 11 74. and Mrs Hollis and Miss Buchanan. 82, 8 74 x
