WORLD STOCK CENSUS PLANNED FOR 1950

(P.A.) Auckland, Sept. 29. Methods to be adopted in the world agricultural census to be conducted in 1950 were discussed at the World Statistical Conference held at Washington, United States, recently, said Mr G. E. Wood, Government Statistician, New Zealand's delegate to the conference, who returned by Pan American Clipper. He said the proposal was. broadly, to count the heads of all livestock in existence. Sponsored by the United Nations Organisation, the conference was attended by representatives from 40 different nations, said Mr. Wood. Agreement was reached in many instances. Other matters discussed were the ways of measuring national incomes and the population question.
