MARTON MAN SECOND IN CROSSCOUNTRY MARATHON
(P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 5. Coming home 2min. 17sec. ahead of his nearest rival, L. Fox, Canterbury, the present holder of the New Zealand marathon title, scored a convincing win in the 20-mile Olympic Gold Cup cross-country race at Trentham on Saturday. The platings were ( Fox, 2hrs. 14min. 27 2-ssec - 1 G. Bromley (Marton), 2hrs. 16min. 42sec —2 T. Bartlett (Scottish, Wellington), 2hr.s 18min. 16sec Z The teams’ event was won by Presbyterian, Wellington, with 29 points. Wellington was the only other team to complete the course.
