N.Z. DELEGATES TO EDUCATION CONFERENCE

(P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Oct. 2. Doctor C. E. Beeby, Director of Education and Doctor R. A. Falla, curator of the Canterbury Museum have been appointed by the Government as delegates to the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation Conference to be held in Paris next month. This was announced by the Acting Minister of Education, Mr. A. H. Nordmeyer, today.

He added that the Paris conference would be the inaugural meeting of the organisation proper, and it was important that New Zealand should be represented by persons with a first hand and recent knowledge of our educational, cultural problems and resources. The task of the conference would be to lay down the lines of general policy to determine the scope of the organisation’s activities. Dr. Beeby would investigate educational advances in other countries before returning to the Dominion next February.
