SAVED FROM ROCKS

FRENCH VESSEL’S PLIGHT Sydney, March 6. After drifting with a disabled engine for 20 hours, the French motorvessel Polynesien, of 1422 tons, is being towed into Sydney. The French vessel Cap Tarifa answered a call yesterday and found the disabled ship drifting within half a mile of Green Cape rocks, without sufficient power to use her anchors. The Cap Tarifa went alongside to pass a cable, and in so doing holed the Polynesien’s port bow. Had the rescue ship been an hour later the Polynesien would have been on the rocks. , „ When the ships arrived off Newcastle heads the Polynesien was still unable to use her anchors, so the Cap Tarifa went alongside and held her until the tug Hilary took over.
