CONDITION IMPROVING

THREE YOUNG WOMEN INJURED IN ACCIDENT

Three young women of a Palmerston North family, who were injured in a motor accident on the Wanganui River Road on Sunday afternoon and were admitted to the Wanganui Pubhc Hospital, were reported last night to be improving. The back injuries of one of the patients is the worst feature of her injuries. The injured are: Miss Helen Luke, aged 28, who suffered a fracture of the left forearm and back injuries; Miss Olive Alison Luke, aged 26, concussion and injuries to back; Miss Nancy Luke, aged 20, injuries to left, 'eg and concussion.

All three were injured when a car in which they were travelling, driven by their father, crashed down a gully from the highway over Gentle Annie Hili and came to rest some 230 feet from the road. Mrs. Olive Luke (the mother) was killed and the father, Mr. Charles Roland Luke, died in hospital from injuries received in the accident.

Wellington, and Mrs. Cunningham, wife of Mr. W. H. Cunnigham, Crow Prosecutor, Wellington. He was manager of lhe Palmerston North branch of J. J. Niven, Ltd., and acting general manager for New Zealand during the absence of the general manager in England. Mr. Luke was educated at Clyde Quay School and Wellington College. He was well known as an elocutionist, and was a prominent member of the Palmerston North Rotary Club.)
