OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD APPOINTS OVERSEAS DOCTORS
(P.A.) Dunedin, Nov. 23. Dr. Harold Palmer, of London, was appointed to the newly created post of psychiatric physician to the Otago Hospital Board at a meeting last night. The appointment, for which 15 applications were received, is at. a salary of £l5OO, in addition to £lOO payable bv the Otago University Council for teaching duties at the Medical School. Dr. Palmer is married, with two children. He is aged 40 and possesses the following medical degrees and diploma: M. 8., Ch.B., Manchester, 1927; D.P.M., Manchester 1931; M.D., Manchester. 1931; M.R.C.P., London, 1932. Dr. Brian C. Thompson, of Denham, near Uxbridge, England, was appointed to the post of tuberculosis officer to the board at. a salary of £l5OO, plus £lOO a year payable hy the University Council for teaching duties. There were 16 applications for the position. Dr. Thompson, who is 39 years of age, was educated at. Durham School Cambridge University, and the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, graduating M. 8.. Ch.B. at Cambridge in 1931. and M.D. in 1936.
