TOBACCO SHOPS
“DELIVERY DAY” IN WELLINGTON (P.A.) Wellington, Nov. 16. For the greater part of yesterday would-be customers stormed tobacconists’ shops or any other kind of shop in Wellington which might conceivably stock’ cigarettes and tobacco. It wa s “delivery day,” the day on which half the monthly quotas of supplies were delivered by merchants. At manv shops queues formed, and persisted for several hours, as long, in fact, as the shopkeeper had supplies to sell. One shop dealt with more than 2000 sates in less than two hours. If was reported hv several tobacconists that some customers were offering a premium if their needs were supplied.
