MR. HAROLD MACMILLAN. London. Nov. 15. The Bromley by-election caused by the death of the Conservative Sir E. Campbell resulted as follows: Harold Macmillan (Conservative) 26,367: Alexander Bain (Labour) 20,810; Major J. C. Sayer (Liberal) 5990. Majority for Macmillan 5557. Sir E. Campbell’s majority over Mr. Bain in the General Election was 6259. Mr. Macmillan lost his seat at Stockton-on-Tees, which he had held since 1931, in the recent General Flection, being defeated bv Captain G. R. Chetwynd (Labour) by 8664 votes. Mr. Macmillan was formerly British Minister resident in the Middle East.
