PRODUCTION COMMITTEES IN WANGANUI AREA

A tribute to the work of members of the Wanganui District Council of Primary Production and its committees throughout the wide area which includes portions of South Taranaki, all Wanganui and Rangitikei together with the Main Trunk and Waimarino districts, was paid by th"e chairman, Mr. W. S. Glenn (Kakatahi) at the monthly meeting yesterday. “No one will ever know just how much work this council has done individually and collectively during the war. years," said Mr. Glenn, when referring to the pending dissolution of production councils.

According to a report of a recent meeting of the National Council, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Roberts) intimated that production councils would not be retained after March 31 next.

The organising-secretary, Mr. A. R. Donaldson said the Wanganui District Council still had several questions to deal with. These concerned matters m regard to which the farmers looked to the council for a guide. “This council is still acting In an advisory capacity to the Rehabilitation National Service Department,” Mr. Donaldson added.
