A MASKED BALL
BIG SOCIAL EVENT FOR WANGANUI. What promises to be the most enjoyable function to be held in Wanganui for many years is the plain and lancy dress mask ball to be held in the New Carlton Hall (Harman's) on Wednesday, 28th. inst.. to further the funds of the Combined Carnival. A very strong ladies’ committee under Mrs. P. A. O’Neill has been formed to ensure the success of the ball and those associated with her are Mesdames E. H. L. Bernau, Desmond Campion, H. G. Carver, A. C. Hatrick, Claude Horne, B. T. Hooper, F. C. Hutchison, Chas. Linwood, E. W. Sampson, A. C. Seivewright and Miss H. Bassett-Smith. A grand parade of those will take place at 10.15 p.m. and handsome prizes are being given for the best lady and gentleman in fancy dress. Many novelties are being arranged in order to make the event go with a swing from start to finish and several parties have already been arranged. A full ball orchestra has been engaged and all those attending must wear masks until the unmasking dance just prior to the grand parade.
