WEDDING

MILBANK—HANDLEY An attractive wedding of widespread interest was solemnised on October 18 at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Raetihi, which had been artistically decorated for the marriage of Hazel Southern, twin daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Handley, Pipiriki Road, to William Arthur, (who was in uniform) elder son of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Milbank, Valley Road, Raetihi. The Rev. Stewart officiated, and presiding at the organ was Mi s Macie Rule. The bride, who was escorted by her father, was attired in a graceful bridal gown of rich c: earn satin, cut on slim-fitting lines, the V neckline being finished with scollops, and a row of tiny satin buttons down centre b:ik of bodice. The sleeve., which were shirred at lhe shoulder, also had a row of satin buttons from elbow to pointed wrist. Her train, which fell in shimmering folds from the waist, was embroidered with silver thread and the veil of tulle, which al. o had an embroidered hem, was h'i’d in place with a pearl coronet. A sheaf o£ arum lilies and stocks completed a charming picture. The bride was attended by her twin sister, Mrs. Richard Good, as matron of honour, who was frocked in pastel blue floral French silk, with tightfitting bodice and full skirt: She wore a floral head-dress and carried a sheaf to tone. Mr. Dick Milbank, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.

On leavnig Ihe church, the bride was presented with a floral horseshoe. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of Mrs. Eyes, Pitt Street, where a number of relatives were entertained. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy blue model frock, with green coat and hat to tone. She was assisted by Mrs. Milbank, who was wearing a green silk morocain ensemble, with black fur coat and hat to tone.

The hanpv couple later left for the North, the bride travelling in a smart brown model frock, with threequarter sleeves and ornamented with coloured silk embroidery, a mustard coloured coat and accessories er suite, completed her outfit. Mr. and Mrs. Milbank will make their future home in Raetihi.*
