SCIENTISTS WANT IT TO BE INTERNATIONAL
Recd. 6 p.m. New York, Nov. 11 rhe metropolitan section of the American Physical Society has asked President Truman, Congress and the Secretaries for the Navy, War, and Si ate to remove restrictions from the scientific Press. It urged that advantages which may accrue from tne regimenting of science for military secrecy are more than offset by the disadvantages of hampered communications among scientists, the difficulty of training voung scientists and general discouragement of scientific initiative. It, was said that in the interests of world peace and national .• ecurity, the Government should immediately, through the United Nations urganisaoion. call a conference to wo: k out machinery for international control ot armaments, especially those involving atomic energy, and establish an international commission of scientists to advise on methods whereby such control might be exercised.
