PORK SALE BAN TO GO
TO BE LIFTED NEXT MONTH (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs., Nov. 9. Restrictions on the sale of pork will be lifted as from December 17, said the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, to-day. This was made possible by the fact that the United States Joint Purchasing Board no longer requires the large quantities of pork which New Zealand has been supply for the United States forces in the Pacific area. Interim extensions of the restrictions to Saturday, December 15, had’ been necessary, but they would definitely be lifted after that date. The release of pork and other meats hitherto provided to the American forces would enable us to supply more meat to Britain and this would not be affected by restoring nork to the retail sale in the Dominion, because nork would be rationed and there would be no change in the quantity of meat permitted by the ration.
