CHILLED BEEF
NEW “POINTS” SYSTEM
The judges of the chilled beef at the Waikato Show at Hamilton last week wfere Mr. Tom Marks, o£ Auckland, and Mr. McLeod, of Feilding. Mr. S. S. Timbs, of Wanganui, was a visitor to the show and made comment on the exhibits.
Mr. Timbs’ main interest, on that occasion was a new “points” scheme? for judging “chillers” on the hoof and on the hooks. His interest was due mainly to the fact that this scheme is under the direction of Dr. McMeekan, superintendent of the animal research department at Ruakura. Dr. McMeekan thinks that his new scheme, which he and Messrs. Marks, Kneebone and Merritt demonstrated at Hamilton, will be of value to the trade. These four men arc experimenting on the Hamilton “chillers” to test out the new idea. Dr. McMeekan is coming to Wanganui on Wednesday next, and will discuss his new scheme with those interested. He will not in any way be associated with the judging of the “chillers,” hut will be here purely because of an intention to experiment.
