TROTTING IN WANGANUI

PERMIT FOR NEXT YEAR Advice has been received by Mr. C. S. Swan, secretary oi the Wanganui Trotting Club, that one of the permits restored to trotting clubs recently has been allotted to Wanganui. In addition to the 15 permits restored to trotting clubs recently, three more have since been made available, land the 18 days have been allotted to the following trotting clubs: WaikatoThames - Cambridge combined (2); Taranaki, Wanganui, Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury Park, Timaru, Westpor*, Reefton,. Oamaru, Invercargill, Winton, Nelson, Marlborough Kaikoura, New Zealand Metropolitan and Forbury Park.

At the annual conference in July, said Mr. Swan, the Wanganui Trotting Club applied for two dates in April next, but permits were not then available. With the permit now granted, it was hoped that the club would be able to secure a date in a circuit Including the Wellington, Hawena and Manawatu clubs, this providing owners and trainers with an opportunity to race their horses with a minimum of travelling. With the president, Dr. G. J. Adams. Mr. Swan will attend a special conference of trotting clubs at Christchurch on October 5.
