Recd. 6 p.m. London, Aug. 22. In 12 mass murders during the German occupation of Florence, 1236 civilians were killed, the Allied authorities have learned. British correspondents say 233 Italian civilians were murdered by the Germans ir. Florence just before the Bth. Army entered the o : ty on August 9 An Italian boy was shot because ht would not give hi s watch to a German soldier, who already hfM 16 watches. Eighty other Italian men and boys were rounded up from apartment houses and were shot in the square, where the argument about the watch occurred. Another 153 civilians were machinegunned outside Florence.
