MR. R. FARLEY LOSES SEATS ON TWO BOARDS MR. WINWOOD DEFEATED AS A COUNCILLOR In the Waitotara County six issues were decided. Four councillors had to be elected in the Brunswfck-West-mere Riding, and one each in the ridings of Mosston and Tokomaru. In addition .there were elections to find county representatives on the Wanganui Harbour, Hospital and Power Boards. Features of the election were: (1) The defeat of Mr. R. Farley (Westmere) on the Wanganui Hospital Board, and the Wanganui Harbour Board, and (2) the defeat of Mr. A. A. Winwood as a councillor, but his election to the Harbour Board *in place of Mr. Farley. TOKOMARU RIDING. The sitting councillor, Mr. L. T. Jones, retained his seat by a narrow majority of three votes in a contest with Mr. H. D. C. Simpson: *L. T. Jones 32 H. D. Q. Simpson 29 MOSSTON RIDING. Councillor H. Titter retained, his seat in this riding against Mr. A. R. Billinghurst: •Henry Titter 130 G. J. Billinghurst 64 BRUNS WICK-WESTMERE RIDING. Two of the three sitting members in this riding retained their seats, but Mr. A. Winwood, who has been on the council since 1935, was defeated. Mr. R. Laird did not seek re-election, and a former member of the Wanganui City Council, Mr. G. H. Trott, and Mr. W. McKee (Brunswick) arc the new councillors: *G. Palmer 593 C. H. Trott 487 *R. Farley 482 William McKee 481 (The above were elected.) *A. A. Winwood 443 J. J. Walters 129 POWER BOARD. Mr. W. Morrison, who has heen on the Wanganui. Rangitikei Electric Power Board, almost, since its Inception, easily retailed his seat against Mr. G. J. BtlingHurst. •William Morrison 937 G. J. Billinghurst 431 HOSPITAL BOARD. In this issue, Mr. Farley, who has been on the board for several years, was beaten by Mr. N. Hughes • (Maxwell) : Nelson Hughes 524 *R. Farley 297 HARBOUR BOARD.
