APPEAL BOARD SITTING
CASES HEARD IN OHAKUNE
Several appeals against military service, and also applications for telease of men fpom camp, were dealt with when the No. 6 (Wangnui) Armed Forces Appeal Board sat in Ohakune on Friday. Mr. F. Purnell (Marton), presided and associated with him were Messrs. H. Adams (Wanganui) and A. P. Melville (Fordell). Decisions were:—
Appeals against service: J. P. Beggs, field officer, Department of Agriculture, appeal by Director of National Service, adjourned sine die; E. C. Sands, appeal by C. H. Sands, review, dismissed, not to be called be-' fore March 31; L. A. Taylor, market gardener, self, rehearing, dismissed, not to be called before March 31; appeals by Perham, Larsen and Co., Ltd., all adjourned sine die: E. W. R. Brown, blacksmith’s striker; A. L. Partridge, millhand; R. Q. Petherick, millhand; A. N. Rose, millhand, and E. H. Rowlands, saw doctor and millwright (Petherick, Rose and Rowlands opposed the appeals). Applications for release: S. M. Holman, apprentice motor mechanic, application by E. Dixon, no recommendation; H. W. McCoubrie, application by Mr. W. J. McCoubrie, farmer, no recommendation; A. H. Peterson, application for retention in New Zealand, recommended that he not be sent ovreseas before March 1; P. C. Tocker, farmhand, application by mother, indefinite leave recommended (Tocker had been overseas and wounded); applications by Perham Larsen and Co., Ltd.: E. G. Carmichael, frame operator, continuation of indefinite leave recommended; F. W. Hussey, bushman, indfinite leave recommended; E. Mooney, millhand, indefinite leave recommended.
