APPEAL BOARD DECISIONS

MARTON AND HUNTERVILLE

Further appeals lodged by or on behalf of reservists called up for military service were dealt with by the No. 6 (Wanganui) Armed Forces Appeal Board at sittings in Marton and Hunterville this week. The board also dealt with applications ror the release of men from camp. Mr. F. Purnell (Marton) presided, and associated with him on the board were Messrs. H. Adams (Wanganui) and A. P. Melville (Fordell), with Mr. N. G. Collinge us secretary. Appeals heard and decisions were: H. V. Barnes (review), appeal by C. W. Preece, adjourned to January 31 (Barnes opposed the appeal); R. D. Hart, appeal by T. A. Duncan, adjourned sine die; F. S. Holder (review), dismissed, not to be required to serve overseas; H. E. Shackleton (review), adjourned sine die; D. J. Oldfield (review), dismissed; R. Paranihi, appeal by H. F. Arkwright, adjourned sine die. Applications for release from camp dealt with were: Noye Bros, for L. E. Bailey, leave to January 31 recommended; J. E. Rogers for J. H. Evers, leave to February 28 recommended; F. A. Fullerton-Smith for V. W. Fullerton-Smith, extension of leave to January 31 recommended; S. R. Hammond for S. D. Hammond, leave to March 31 recommended; N. F. ArkwKrht for T. Kane, leave to January 31 recommended; S. W. Morrison for A. W. Morrison, leave to March 31 recommended; Marton Sash, Door and Timber (Jo., Ltd., for W. M. Templeton, indefinite leave recommended; N. W. Wysocki for M. Wysocki, leave to February 28 recommended. A sitting of the board will be held in Ohakune to-mdrrow.
