Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., of Hamilton, has been appointed chairman of the Cinematograph Films Appeal Board. Mr. Frederick William Furkert, C.M.G., has been appointed a member of the Town Planning Board in place of the late Mr. A. J. Baker, states last night’s New Zealand Gazette. Major T. M. Charters. Canterbury, was re-elected chairman of the New Zealand Navy League War Council at the third annual meeting of the council at Wellington on Wednesday. Mr. C. N. Cathie, retiring president of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Assocition, was presented with a wristlet watch at last Wednesday night’s annual meeting as a mark of appreciation from members for his outstanding service. Mr. H. Cuming was elected a lift member of the Marist Cricket Club at the annual meeting held recently. He is a former Wanganui representative cricket captain, and a member of the Wanganui Cricket Association executive. Mr. Cuming is now a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and some years ago played senior Rugby in Wellington. He is an old boy of Sacred Heart College, Auckland.
