Mr Roy M. Jackson, portrait photographer, of Auckland, has received advice from London, of his election to a fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts, London.
Mr. H. S. Harman was re-elected president of the Wanganui branch of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Association at the annual meeting recently. Private David Robert Pharazyn, who was reported killed on active service, being lost at sea, was a resident of Wanganui from 1932 to 1938, when he was on the staff of Messrs. Johnston and Co. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey Pharazyn,
“Waiwaipa,” Dannevirke, and was educated at Eton College and Oxford. David Pharazyn was a former member of the Wanganui Golf Club, and was prominent in amateur theatrical circles. Two brothers were killed while serving in the Royal Air Force. He is survived by two sisters resident in England. Mr. George Robertson Croll, who died recently at New Plymouth after being associated with the freezing industry in New Zealand for neary 40 years, was chief engineer at the old Aramoho freezing works, Wanganui, from 1903 till 1905, when he entered the service of T-ios. Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., as chief Engineer and manager of their Waitara Works. He was subsequently appointed superintending engineer to the company, whose head office was then in Christchurch. and in 1912-13 went to America and England on their behalf. He was later engaged in the design and erection of the company’s plants in New Zealand and Australia, and retired in 1936.
