‘REAL SECOND FRONT’
RUSSIAN WRITER’S DEMAND R-'-cd. 6 p.m. London. Aug. 27. Invasion of Italy would not be a second front declared the foreign commentator of the Moscow Red Star. “After the Allied landing in Sicily.” he said. “Germany did not increase the number of divisions in Italy, and everything goes to show that the Germans will continue the same tactics curing the further development of Allied action there. The Germans will try to conduct a drawn-out defence with small forces. Even now. when confronted with imminent danger of hostilities against Italy, the German Command is keepinc the minimum number of divisions in Italy. “A real second front i= needed. If Germany telt there was imminent danger of Allied invasion against the west they would hold at least one hundred divisions for the defence line from the North S~a to the Bay of Biscay, no* forty-five.”
