STRIKING TRIBUTE PAID
WANGANUI GARRISON BAND
A striking tribute to the Wanganui Garrison Band was paid by the conductor of one of its strongest opponents in the New. Zealand contest held Mr. R. J. Estall, Woolston Brass Band Christchurch.
In a letter to the secretary of the Wanganui Garrison Band, on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee, last week. Mr. Estall stated: “Would you please convey to officers and members of your band my hearty congratulations on the completion of 61 years of magnificent work. The history of the W.G.B. is something that every officer and members, past and present, should be justly proud of. The band’s wonderful record of victories and achievements has been, and still is, an
example for every band and bandsman in New Zealand to try and emulate. The success obtained has been due, in no small measure, to the happy choice of able men who have led your band as conductors or secretaries, and to the galaxy of fresh players that has helped to build the prestige the band has always held in our country”
