WORKMAN KILLED

ACCIDENT ON PORT BOWEN Injuries, from which he died a short time later, were received by a youth, Arthur Lewis Taylor, aged 16 years and seven months, while working on the Port Bowen at Castlecliff late on Wednesday. Taylor, who was a son of Mr. A. R. Taylor, Karaka Street, a well-known Castlecliff resident, is believed to have fallen from a plank on which he was working. Though other workmen engaged in the task of dismantling the wreck were in the vicinity at the time, none witnessed the accident. The police and the St. John Free Ambulance were summoned. Artificial respiration was carried out under the supervision of the ambulance transport officer, Mr. W. B. McNaught, but was of no avail. On the arrival of Dr. D. W. Cooke, who pronounced life extinct, the body was taken ashore. An inquest was opened yesterday morning before the coroner, Mr. S. M. Dixon, and after evidence of identification had been taken was adjourned sine die.
