PROPOSED EGG FLOOR

PLANS WELL ADVANCED Plans for the formation in Wanganui of an egg floor, under the Egg Marketing Emergency Regulations, 1942, are well advanced. At a meeting recently of the committee appointed to form the floor, Mr. C. S. Smith (Brunswick), was elected chairman. He is a representative of the vVanganui District Primary Production Council.

Three applications were received for the egg floor, two from Wanganui firms, and the other from a co-opera-tive company about to be formed. Applications will be forwarded to the Internal Marketing Department, which will decide which concern will manage the floor. The Wanganui Grocers’ Associations representatives, Messrs. G. F. Jackson and F. W. Simpson, were appointed to nominate suitable grocers in each suburb to act as receiving depots tor eggs and they will report on their deliberations at the next meeting of the committee. The floor will operate over an area with a 15 mile radius of Wanganui. When the floor is finally established, every egg produced in that area and intended for sale to the public will have to pass through the organisation.
