The monthly meeting of the Mangawhero branch of the W.D.F.U. was held at “Manurewa” on Tuesday, March 2, Mrs. E. Polson presiding over a good attendance. The roll call, “A useful hint for washing day,” proved very interesting. A competition, an original recipe, resulted: Mrs. Thompson 1, Mrs. Branford 2 Mrs. MacDonald 3. A bring-and-buy stall, held by the members, proved very successful.. Mrs. Grigg, M.P. for Mid-Canter-bury, who was the guest of the afternoon, gave a very interesting talk on "Women in Politics,” which was much appreciated by the members and friends. ' Among other visitors present were Mrs. Collins, of Auckland, and Mrs. E. M. Rumford, Marton. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Millard.
