CHRIST CHURCH MOTHERS’ UNION

The annual general meeting of the Christ Church Mothers’ Union was held, in the Parish Hall, when there was an excellent attendance of members. The service and address in the church were conducted by Ven. Archdeacon J. R. Young, who also presided at the meeting afterwards. The enrolling member, Mrs. W. Lambert, read her annual report, covering the activities of the branch for the year, and the treasurer presented the annual statement of receipts and payments. There was only one vacancy on the committee and this was filled by the appointment of Mrs. Barriball, the other members being Mesdames C. P. Brown, S. Kendall, J. J. Bennett, A. J. Weekes, D. G. O’Toole, O. Coupland, Nigel Williams, Clare. Mrs. W. Lambert was unanimously re-elected enrolling member for the ensuing year. Delegate to Archdeaconry Group, Mrs. D. G. O’Toole. Mrs. S. Swan, who retired by rotation, was thanked by Mrs. Lambert for the valuable work done during her term of office, stressing particularly the attention as visitor to the sick. Mrs. Swan was presented with a posy. Members were advised of the arrangements made for the Lady Day Festival, which is held each year on March 25. There will be a celebration of Holy Communion at 11 a.m. Lunch in the Parish Hall at.-12.30, and the afternoon programme will commence at 2.30 p.m., at the close of which afternoon tea will be served. As there was a large overflow at last years festival, special arrangements have been made for extra seating accommodation this year. The creche was taken full advantage of and was in the hands of Mrs. J. W. Yates.
