JOCKEY SUSPENDED

WAIPA APPEAL VERDICT

Auckland, Dec. 29.

The appeal lodged by the chief stipendiary steward, Mr. C. Gomer, with the Auckland District Committee against the decision of the stewards of the Waipa Racing Club in fining the jockey H. P. Stewart £5 for careless riding on All Glory in the first division of the Waipa Plate at Te Awamutu on December 12 was heard yesterday. Mr. Gomer expressed dissatisfaction with the penalty imposed by the Waipa stewards. The District Committee resolved that the appeal be upheld and that the penalty imposed (fine of £5) by the Waipa Racing Club on jockey H. P. Stewart be increased by suspension of Stewart’s jockey’s licence for the balance of the current season.
