Married Women to Lose Positions. A discussion in committee took place at a recent meeting of the Auckland City Council on the following recommendation by the Finance Committee: "The comir.itee has given further consideration to the question of the employment of married women in the service of the council, and desires to recommend that the services of all those women in the council s employ whose husbands are not serving with the armed forces, and whose services are not essential to the corin’ cil's business, be dispensed with.” When the council resumed it was reported that the icr ommendation had been adopted, and the report was approved.
