DISPERSAL TRIAL

“SOME TIME” TO-DAY A dispersal trial, the third of its kind arranged by E.P.S. authorities in Wanganui, is to be held in the city area “some time during daylight hours” to-day. As on the occasion of the previous test, the time of the alert is undisclosed, but the general alarm system will not be used. The warning to disperse will be given by the tirebell at Cook's Gardens and tne Fire Brigade siren at the intersection of Guyton Street and Victoria Avenue. Under the regulations, all persons in the dispersal area, apart from those specially instructed otherwise, are required to make for raid shelters or slit trenches allocated to them as quickly as possible. Law and Order wardens will be on duty to direct people to shelters. The principal objects of the trial are to test the speed with which the business area could be cleared in an actual emergency, and to give the authorities an idea whether shelter accommodation alreaoy provided is adequate.
